Viva Macau Poker - 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo
Viva Macau offers a Hi/Lo varient of the 7 Card Stud Poker game. In 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo the pot may be split between the player with the highest ranking hand and the lowest ranking hand.

The playing strategy in Hi/Lo is a little different than in Stud Hi because you can win half the pot provided you have the lowest qualifying low hand at showdown.
Play in Hi/Lo follows pretty much the same pattern as in Stud Hi. Players are dealt seven cards in five rounds, they must make their best hi or low 5 card poker hand from the cards they are dealt. 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo follows the 2 down, 4 up, 1 down pattern of seven card stud.
To be eligible to split the pot with the high hand, the low hand must meet certain qualifying requirements. First, you must have 5 distinct cards with no pairs, and no card higher than an 8. Straights and flushes don't count when ranking a low hand, so the best low hand is A-2-3-4-5 of any suit. Because you must use two cards to make your hand, two of the cards in your hand and three from the board all need to be 8 or lower.
Ranking of low hands starts with the highest of your low cards, so 7-6-5-4-3 is 7-low and would beat 8-7-5-4-3-2 a 8-low. If two players make a low hand and have the same hi card, the next highest card wins, so 7-5-4-3-2 beats 7-6-4-3-2.
If there is no low hand the player with the best high hand wins the whole pot. If there is a low hand and a high hand the pot is split between the winning players. A player can also win the whole pot if they have the best high hand and the best low hand using the same set of cards.
