Viva Macau - Sportsbook Rules

These Sportsbook Rules are governed by Viva Macau’s Terms and Conditions of Use. By participating in sportsbook wagering at Viva Macau, Player consents to the data practices prescribed in these Rules.

Las Vegas rules, regulations, payoffs and wager types apply where not covered herein.

If an event is offered on our website for which we do not currently have specific rules, we will undertake to provide relevant wagering terms and conditions in our Rules section at that time.

Viva Macau reserves the right to add, delete or change the sportsbook rules and payoff odd at any time without prior notification.

1.  Acceptance of Sportsbook Wagers

All sportsbook wagers must be made and accepted, before the start of the event. Any bet placed or received after the start of the event wagered, will be considered void.

Viva Macau reserves the right to refuse any wager prior to its acceptance.

No bet may be cancelled, changed, or modified by Player, in any way, once it has been received and accepted by Viva Macau.

Viva Macau maintains record of all point-spreads, odds, final scores and related betting proposition statistics to protect both the customer and Viva Macau in case of obvious mechanical or human error. When a line is put up in obvious error due to a human mistake by a Viva Macau employee, we reserve the right to correct any mistakes and to cancel the wager or settle any bets already laid at the correct price.

2.  Sportsbook Wagering Limits

Viva Macau reserves the right to limit the maximum amount wagered, prior to the acceptance of any bet. Players are not permitted to open multiple accounts or place multiple wagers, regardless of a change in odds, in order to bypass the limits imposed by the system. If multiple accounts or wagers are used, than all bets will be void.

Daily win limits apply to specific events. These limits include all winnings derived from wagers placed by Player on the individual event, regardless of whether the event is included as an element of a multiple, a group of multiples, or as a single wager. It is important to bear these limits in mind as Viva Macau cannot be responsible for bringing them to Player’s attention at the time the wager(s) is placed.

Without prior negotiation, the maximum win payable by Viva Macau to any one individual or entity, or group deemed to be acting on behalf of any one individual or entity, on any one event shall be limited to USD $50,000.

Minimum and maximum wagers on all sporting events will be determined by Viva Macau. The maximum payout on any individual, multiple or combination bet, or, to any individual on any one day, is limited to USD $100,000.

Sportsbook wagering limits are open to negotiation upwards (for specific individuals).

3.  Wager Outcomes

For US sports (baseball, American football, basketball and hockey), and soccer, all events must be played on the scheduled day (US Eastern time) unless otherwise specified. For postponed games, all bets shall be deemed void and all stakes returned if the event is not resumed in 12 hours.

For betting purposes, the winner of an event or game will be determined on the date of the event’s conclusion according to house wagering rules and regulations. Viva Macau does not recognize suspended games, protests or overturned decisions for wagering purposes.

When wagering on "totals", overtime periods are counted in the final score.

On half-time wagers, overtime periods are included as part of the second half.

4.  Dead Heat

Viva Macau will employ the Dead Heat Rule if a draw occurs on a wager for which there was no draw option. The Dead Heat Rule specifies that when there is a tie, the amount wagered is divided by the number of contestants involved in the dead heat. Full odds are then paid to the divided portion, with the remainder of the stake money being lost. In a two-way dead heat (2 winners), for example, the Player’s return will be half of what it could have been. This can be referred to as half-face value of the bet, or a bet for half the original stake.

For example, if Player’s initial bet is $100 at +200 the face value of their ticket is $300. If there is one expected winner and two dead heat for first place the payout would be $150. This can be computed in two ways:

Half-face value of ticket: $300 / 2 = $150

Half-stake: $50 at +200 = $150

It becomes more complex when there are multiple payouts. For instance, in a golf tournament there is a single winner for first, second and third place, but a multiple dead-heat between five players for fourth place. This creates a five-way dead heat for fourth and fifth place.

If the Player wagered $100 at +1000 (11:1) for one of the tied players to finish in the top 5, the payout is computed as follows:

= Stake * Odds * No. of Payouts / No. of tied participants

= $100 * 10 * 2 / 5 = $400

5.  Related Events

Two events are related when the outcome of one is contingent on another. Viva Macau does not permit related events to be included in combination wagers.

6.  Soccer

Unless otherwise specified, all bets are based on the result after normal playing time (i.e. 90 minutes), which includes any time added by match officials for stoppages. Extra time, golden goals and penalty shootouts are not included.

Where a soccer match commences but is subsequently officially abandoned without full time (normal time plus injury time) being called by the match referee, all bets on that match will be void, except those bets whose outcome has already been decided, i.e. 1st goal scorer, half time coupon etc.

Any subsequent official over rulings by the relevant governing body concerning awarding of points and/ or declaring an official score will only have consideration for the settlement of bets affected by this rule at the sole discretion of Viva Macau.

Date and kick-off times displayed are for guidance purposes only.

Head-to-head with draw: This is any wager on the unadjusted result of a match, with a draw option being offered. Wagers can be made to choose either home win, away win or a draw. For the bet to be valid, the event must start with a 0-0 score.

Asian handicap: An Asian handicap wager is a bet on a team to win with handicaps applied. To even the match for wagering purposes the favorite gives the underdog a points start. A favorite is indicated by a minus points handicap and the underdog by plus points. At the end of the game the relevant handicap is added to, or subtracted from the teams’ score to determine the point spread result. If scores are level after accounting for the handicap, a “push" results.

Asian handicaps may not be included in combination wagers.

Split handicap: A split handicap is a two part Asian handicap wager on the first half and final results of a match. Each part of the split handicap is determined as if two independent Asian handicap wagers had been placed. All bets are based on the official result at the end of the first half and the end of normal playing time.

First half betting: All bets are based on the result of the first half of the match. If a match is subsequently abandoned after half time, all bets will stand.

First/last player to score: Bets on players not taking part in the match will be void. Bets on players entering the field of play after the first goal has been scored will also be void.

Own goals (goals scored accidentally by the opposition for the other team) do not count unless otherwise specified.

Total corners: A wager on the total number of corners taken during the match will be void if the match is abandoned before 90 minutes (plus any injury time). Extra time does not count.

Total goals: If the match is abandoned before 90 minutes (plus injury time) has been played, then all bets will be void unless the result of the bet has already been determined.

For total goals wagers for groups of matches (e.g. total Premier League goals on a given evening), 2 goals will be given for a void or abandoned match. If there is more than one void or abandoned match within the same wager then all bets will be void.

Extra time does not count.

Total bookings: Players may wager on the total number of bookings in a match. 10 points are awarded for a yellow card shown to a player. 25 points are awarded for a red card shown to a player. The maximum number of points is 35 for any individual player. For example, if a player is shown 2 yellow cards and a red card, he is still awarded 35 points.

Any cards shown to non-players do not count.

Any cards shown after the full time whistle has blown do not count.

If the match is abandoned before 90 minutes (plus injury time) has been played, then all bets are void unless the result of the bet has already been determined.

7.  American Football

The items listed in this section apply to NFL, College, Canadian (CFL), and Arena Football

At least 55 minutes of play must elapse for wagers to have action, with the exception of bets whose outcome has already been decided at the time of abandonment, e.g. first half wagers.

For wagering purposes the winner of the game will be determined by the official result at the end of the game including any overtime played. Overtime also counts for 2nd half wagering. Overtime does not count for quarter time (4th quarter) wagering.

Half time / full time double: All bets are based on the result at the end of the first half and the end of the game, including any overtime.

Odds to win / futures: In the event of a college conference not having a championship deciding game, the winner of the conference will be determined by NCAA’s countback procedures.

For wagers on NFL regular season wins, the team must play 16 regular season games for action. Any team that does not play 16 regular season games, bets on that team will be refunded.

NCAA Football Conference Championship Tie-Breakers: Winner of the SEC, Big 12, and ACC conferences is defined as the winner of those conferences' championship games.

For other conferences, in the event of a tie in the regular season standingsa, the winner is defined as the highest ranked team according to the BCS standings the week following the conference championship games.

If no team in ranked in the BCS, then the team ranked highest in the AP poll the week following the conference championship games will be determined the winner.

8.  Basketball

The items listed in this section apply to NBA and NCAA basketball.

At least 43 minutes of play must elapse for NBA bets to have action

At least 35 minutes of play must elapse for NCAA basketball bets to have action.

For wagering purposes the winner of the game will be determined by the official result at the end of the game including any overtime played. Overtime also counts for 2nd half wagering purposes.

Viva Macau reserves the right to suspend any or all betting on a game at any time without notice.

Odds to win / futures: For wagers on NBA regular season wins the team must play 82 regular season games for action. Any team that does not play 82 regular season games will be refunded.

Point spread: A point spread wager is a bet on a team to win with handicaps applied. To even the match for wagering purposes the favorite gives the underdog a points start. A favorite is indicated by a minus points handicap and the underdog by plus points. At the end of the game/half the relevant handicap is added to, or subtracted from the teams’ score to determine the point spread result. If scores are level after accounting for the handicap, a “push" results. Overtime counts for both full game and half-time (2nd half) wagers.

  • Viva Macau offers 1st half / 2nd half and full game point spreads on all NBA games.
  • Viva Macau offers full game point spreads on select NCAA basketball games.
  • 1st half / 2nd half point spreads will be offered on selected NCAA basketball games.

Totals: A total line is offered by the bookmaker on the predicted total number of points scored. This can be on the 1st half/2nd half and full game, for which a quote is made. Wagering is offered for the actual score total to be under or over this quote. The total result is the combined total points for both teams at the end of the period wagered on. When the combined scores of both teams equals the totals line exactly, a “push" results. Overtime counts for both full game and half-time (2nd half) wagers.

  • Viva Macau offers 1st half / 2nd half and full game totals on all NBA games.
  • Viva Macau offers 1st half / 2nd half and full game totals on selected NCAA basketball games.
9.  Baseball

The listed pitchers must start or there is no action.

For betting purposes, winners and losers of games are official after 5 innings of play. If the home team is leading, the game is official after 4 1/2 innings. Thereafter, if a game is called or suspended the winner is determined by the score after the last full inning unless the home team scores to tie or take the lead in the bottom half of the inning in which case the winner is determined by the score at the time the game is called.

Run line: A run line wager is a bet on a team to win with handicaps applied. When wagering on run lines the game must go 9 full innings (8 1/2 if the home team is ahead) to have action. When wagering on total runs the game must go 9 full innings (8 1/2 if the home team is ahead) to have action. Thereafter, if a game is called or suspended, the score will be determined after the last full inning unless the home team scores to tie or take the lead in the bottom half of the inning in which case the score is determined by the score at the time the game is called.

Season matchups: For matchup wagers on MLB Regular Season each team must play 162 regular season games for action. Season matchup bets will be determined by which team wins more games during the Regular Season. If both teams win the same amount of games during the Regular Season the winner shall be determined by the Official Standings on MLB.com.

If a team does not play 162 regular season games, bets on that team will be refunded.

10. Ice Hockey

For wagering purposes, a hockey game (pro or college) becomes official after fifty-five (55) minutes of play.

Games that do not last official time constitute no action or push/void and all money is refunded.

Games must take place on the site and date scheduled (unless otherwise specified).

Overtime scores and penalty shootout are included in all game wagers, money line, puck line, and totals (over/under).

For the penalty shootout, the winner has 1 goal added to their score at the completion of the shootout to determine the final score of the game.

11. Boxing

If a boxing match is postponed and re-scheduled to occur within 7 days of the original start time, all bets will stand.

Head-to-head with draw: If the betting offer on a match includes the draw as a third option and the match ends in a draw, wagers on the draw will be paid, while wagers on either fighter are losers. If the wagering offer includes only the two boxers, with the draw either not offered or offered as a separate proposition, and the match ends in a draw, wagers on either fighter will be refunded.

In addition to this Viva Macau will offer a separate 5-way wager – fight outcome. An example of the 5 wagering options is listed below.

If the fight is stopped at 1 minute 31 seconds or after in the 8th round, wagers will be settled in favor of the over. This is assuming the fight is contested over “3 minute rounds".

Using the example above, where the fight is contested over “2 minute rounds", if in the 8th round the fight is stopped at 1 minute or before, wagers will be settled in favor of the Under, with 1 minute 1 second or after in the 8th round settled in favor of the over.

12. Formula One

Race betting: The result at the time of podium presentations counts. A driver will be considered a 'runner' providing he appears on the grid prior to the race warm up lap.

Championship betting: Bets stand on all drivers and manufacturers whether they compete or not. Bets will be settled in accordance with the official result given by the governing authority on the field.

Head to head (match bets): The winner of a race head to head wager will be the driver with the higher finishing position, or the driver who completes most laps. In the event that the two drivers retire on the same lap, bets are void.

If either driver fails to appear on the grid for the start of the parade lap then all bets on that head to head are void.

Qualifying match bets: The driver achieving the faster official qualifying time is the winner. If either driver fails to start a lap in the official race qualifying session, then all bets on that match are void.

Number of race leaders: The driver who is in the forward most car (normally Pole Position) on the grid at the start of the race counts as a race leader. After the start of the race, any other driver who crosses the start / finish line as the first car on the road counts as a race leader.

Finish in the points/on the podium: The result used for settlement is as at the time of the podium presentation. Subsequent disqualifications and/or appeals will not affect bets. These wagers are win only.

Betting on other motor racing events will be subject to rules equivalent to the rules above where appropriate.

13. Motor Racing (NASCAR)

For wagering purposes, the start of the race is when the first car crosses the start/finish line when the start of the race is officially signified. Race head to head matchups: All drivers involved in any race match up must start, otherwise all bets will be deemed no action and all bets will be refunded. Bets are accepted on drivers only, not on teams or cars.

In match ups, if one driver fails to complete the race, the other driver will be declared the winner. Where both drivers fail to complete the race, the number of full laps completed will determine the result. If both drivers fail to complete the race on the same lap, the official placing as assigned by the controlling authority will determine the result of the event.

If the players are still tied, then the winner will be deemed, for betting purposes, as the player who scored the lowest score in the last round played and so on, until a winner is found. If both golfers in a match-up are in a playoff, the winner of the playoff wins the matchup and all other playoff participants tie each other.

72-hole head-to-head: Winner decided upon most holes completed by each player, followed by best score between each player. If one player misses the cut his opponent is deemed the winner. If both players miss the cut the lower score wins. If both players have the same score, a “push” results and all bets are refunded. Both players must tee off for bets to stand.

18-hole betting (single-day matchup): Single-day matchups are a wager on a particular day’s 18-holes. Single day matchups do not include holes played as part of a completion from the previous day’s round nor playoff holes considered part of the overall tournament score.

Should a day’s round be shortened, or otherwise affected, due to weather conditions and the round is continued the next day, the full 18 holes are considered in determining the outcome of the bet even if they are played over two days.
