Viva Macau - Games of Skill Rules

This document provides general information about the rules under which Players participate in Games of Skill at Viva Macau. “Games of Skill” includes, but is not limited to, poker ring games, poker tournaments and casino tournaments.

Specific rules for individual Games of Skill are provided on the vivamacau.com website and are governed by this document and Viva Macau’s Terms and Conditions of Use.

1.  General

The results of Games of Skill depend on the number and skill level of players participating in such events. As such, precise odds of winning are unavailable.

Prizes are generally cash amounts which are deposited directly into the winners’ accounts.

Viva Macau reserves the right to change and modify this policy and make final decisions on all matters herein at its sole discretion. Any rule changes and relevant information will be communicated through VivaMacau.com.

2.  Poker Ring (Real Money) Games

In “Poker Ring Games” Players participate in rounds of the specified game for cash. At the conclusion of each round the Player with the winning rand takes the pot, less a small commission (“Rake”) paid to the house.

The formats of the various Poker Ring Games offered by Viva Macau are described on the VivaMacau.com website.

3.  Poker Tournaments

Players pay an entry fee to participate in “Poker Tournaments”. A small portion of the entry fee is paid to Viva Macau as a commission and the rest goes into the pot. Players are awarded a specified number of chips and compete in a series of rounds, being eliminated when they run out of chips, until only one Player remains.

There is no commission paid to Viva Macau in “Freeroll Poker Tournaments”. Players earn the right to participate in Freeroll Poker Tournaments based on comp point accumulation.

The format of the various Poker Tournaments, including Freerolls, is described on the Viva Macau.com website.

Payouts are determined based on the number of Players entering the tournament and how long the Player lasts in the tournament, according to the following schedule.

4.  Casino Tournaments

Each casino tournament offered will have a “Tournament Description” which details the specific rules of the event. Contestants will compete in one of two general formats:

  • In fixed-play casino tournaments Players must complete the specified number of hands, rolls or spins.
  • In fixed-time casino tournaments Players compete over a specified period of time complete as many plays as possible.

The winner and other contestants’ placings are determined by the amount of chips accumulated at the end of the specified period, or after the specified number of plays. The winner will be the contestant finishing with the greatest number of chips, the runner-up will be the contestant finishing with the second highest number of chips and so on. The tournaments’ payout schedules will be specified in the Tournament Description.

Some casino tournaments will specify a minimum number of contestants that must enter in order for the tournament to start. If the minimum number of contestants does not enter by the end of the enrollment period, the tournament will be cancelled, and all stake money will be returned.

The results and winners of each tournament offered will be determined by Viva Macau. By registering and/or participating in any tournament, Player agrees to be bound by those determinations.

5.  Disconnected Games

Viva Macau’s poker software provides “Disconnect Protection” to protect Players in the event that their internet connection is lost while involved in a pot. If a Player is disconnected and has Disconnect Protection available, the server will allow the Player to continue the hand by either marking them as "All In" for the amount they have contributed to the pot, or checking if the option is available.

For community/private games, the Player is limited to the use of one Disconnect Protection within a 24 hour period for live game play. Player may request for a Disconnect Protection reset by contacting support.

Disconnect Protection is not available for any single-table and multi-table tournaments. Player will be folded if they lose connection and their blinds will be paid until they return.

Refunds for poker tournaments will only be issued if a problem with the tournament is identified by Viva Macau and is found to have been a result of a technical fault or error.

In case of a malfunction or disruption of service, for which Viva Macau is responsible, that prevents a Player from completing a tournament in which they have started to participate, Viva Macau will, upon receipt of a refund request, refund the entry fee charged for that unfinished tournament only.

Viva Macau reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether it is responsible for any such malfunction or disruption.

Should Viva Macau determine, in its sole discretion, that Player has intentionally caused such malfunction or disruption, it reserves the right to limit their casino tournament play or take other measures it deems necessary to provide a safe gaming environment, up to and including the termination of Player’s account.

Viva Macau is not liable for any potential winnings from any unfinished tournament.

6.  Game Cancellation Policy

If a community or private poker game is cancelled for technical reasons, each Player will be refunded back the exact amount of money he or she had at the start of the hand at the time of cancellation.

If a single-table poker tournament is cancelled because of technical reasons, any Players who were eliminated prior to cancellation will lose their buy-in and entry fee.

Remaining Players will have their buy-in and entry fee refunded and will receive an equal share of the buy-in monies of the eliminated players. The eliminated Players' buy-in monies are equally divided regardless of chip standing at the time of cancellation.

If a multi-table poker tournament is cancelled because for technical reasons, any Players who were eliminated prior to cancellation will lose their buy-in and entry fee. Remaining players will be refunded their entry fee and are assumed to have tied in the tournament.

If eliminated Players qualify for payouts according to the Games of Skills Rules, they will be paid their share of the pot. Remaining Players will be paid the amount that would have been awarded to the next Player eliminated from the tournament (i.e. the position for which all the remaining contestants have tied).

Any prize money that remains will be divided among the remaining Players, with:

  • 50% being distributed equally between all remaining Players; and
  • 50% being distributed to all remaining Players on a percentage basis according to chip count at the time of cancellation.

If a casino tournament has to close prematurely, such as for maintenance or technical problems, the prize for the tournament will be proportional to how full the tournament was at the time of closing.

7.  Fraud and Collusion

Viva Macau has zero tolerance for fraud & collusion. To reduce the incidence of fraud & collusion in Games of Skill, Viva Macau has introduced the following guidelines.

  • Various vital statistics and patterns of both game play and member information are monitored to detect incidents of fraudulent activity.

  • Any Player found to be participating in collusion or deceptive practices will have their accounts immediately closed.
